Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this GSI Outdoors 12" Five Quart Aluminum Dutch Oven. Now this Dutch oven is great for campers or backpackers who need superior heat to cook beef stew, chili, fried chicken, or other tasty food. This Dutch oven is made from a durable, highly-conductive cast aluminum. Heats up very quickly and evenly, and it won't rust. So it can go places where a cast iron can, plus it weighs a lot less.
You can see it is very lightweight, only weighs about six pounds total. Now Dutch ovens cook with radiant heat, so they work best with charcoal or coals underneath as well as heaped on the lid. You can see the lid on this has a nice deep edge lip to hold coals or charcoal in place for oven-like cooking. On the very bottom you can see it has the three tall legs, fixed legs, to support it over coals. The lid itself when you put it on, you can see it gives you a nice, tight seal, distributes the heat evenly while cooking. The handles conveniently fold for compact storage.
So when you're carrying it like this, when you don't, they just fold up against the Dutch oven.A few specs on this. We mentioned the weight of it is six pounds. The diameter from one end to the other is going to be right at 12". Over all height, when it's from the legs to the very top of the lid is about 6 1/2" tall. And the inside depth ...
I'll show you the nice finish on the inside, the depth on the inside is going to be right at about 4" deep. Put our lid on and just carry just like that. But that should do it for the review on the GSI Outdoors 12" Five Quart Aluminum Dutch Oven..

This was not to be available until Feb
I was asked if I wanted an alternate for earlier delivery
Outstanding! Who does that?!?
I waited and it got delivered to my brother as a gift New Years
Great product and amazing communication and service from etrailer!!!!
Thanks again!
Lightweight alternative to a cast iron Dutch oven. I’ve been wanting this for awhile. I was disappointed with the quality. The finish of the lid doesn’t look even and the edges doesn’t look like it’s been anodized.
Will, the customer service rep who helped me with my order was phenomenal. Needed a Dutch oven overnighted for a last minute backpacking trip, and Will and Etrailers came through in the clutch. Order arrived next day, just in time, and was just what I needed. 5 stars, solid dude, excellent customer service!
Can’t wait to cook in this baby, it’s going to be perfect for my truck camping set up.
